Throughout my career, I've worked on numerous data projects, from mining giants in Australia to leading financial services organizations in the US and everything in-between. A common thread in all these projects was the persistent misalignment between what businesses needed and what the tech teams could deliver. As noted by Data & Society Research Institute, "the gap between data experts and business stakeholders often leads to miscommunication, resulting in projects that fail to meet business objectives" (Data & Society Research Institute, 2022). As a project manager, I often found myself caught in the middle, trying to manage expectations on both sides. It was clear to me that there had to be a better way to bridge this gap.
